Murder and mayhem stalk Jack Handler throughout Lake Superior and the state of Michigan, culminating in the fiery sinking of a thousand-foot freighter. Jack’s two thirteen-year-old foster boys have witnessed a murder and are being hunted down by the killer. At the same time Henry, Jack’s best friend and right-hand man, is attacked and nearly killed in an attempted revenge hit. To make the situation worse, Jack’s Chicago bar is targeted with an audit by former First Lady Allison Fulbright, his long-time nemesis, in an intricate plot to have him killed by his own clients.
