Then and Now : The changing face of Sault Ste. Marie contains 36 pairs of images–each pair consisting of an image from years gone by, matched with a contemporary photograph taken, insofar as possible, from the same view-point. Change is illustrated by many of the pairs, but in most, you are likely to find some elements of stability as well. The historical photographs date from about 1898 through the 1960s. Most of those after 1925 were taken by Walter Materna.
